After a Fall season in which they won the U11C1 MYSA State Tournament, the U10 US Club league title, the U11C1 MYSA East Division, the Coerver Cup, and the NSC Kick or Treat, the MTA East U10/11 Boys, coached by Dane Obermeyer and Tony Peleska, headed to Kansas City for the Heartland Boys Invitational Nov. 7-8.
The boys dominated their group winning 3 games against teams from Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. They outscored their opponents 23-2 earning their place in the final of their tournament division on Sunday afternoon.
Against a big, fast, and aggressive side in the final the boys found themselves down 0-1 at halftime. The "mighty mites" from MTA got stronger as the game went on and their dominant possession started to wear down their opponents. With about 10 minutes remaining, after creating a handful of quality chances, the boys got their equalizer. George Diebert capped off a flurry in front of the opponents goal with a quality finish off the left goal post. In front of a large gathering crowd the game went to penalties. The boys scored 4 to their opponents 3 to cap another fun weekend.
Well done MTA!
