The Minnesota Thunder's East Academy is wrapping up the year with a big haul in the trophy department.
U12 Boys Sweep The U12 East League And USA Cup Weekend Tournament
The 98e Boys White won the East U12 C1 League going 8-1-1. The boys also won the USA Cup Weekend U12 A Flight by winning all 5 of their games. They beat the Lincoln School 4-1 in the final game.
U12 Girls Win East League Title
The 98e Girls won the East U12 C1 League. The girls were undefeated with 10 wins and 0 losses. They finished the season with a +52 goal differential.
U11 Girls Win U12 C1 East District Tournament
The East U11 girls are close to meeting up with their U12 counter parts in the U12 State Tournament. The girls captured the East District title in big fashion by scoring 6 goals in the championship game. The girls won
4-2 vs East Side
3-0 vs St Croix
6-2 vs St Croix
The girls also played in the USA Cup week long tournament and advanced to the Semi Finals before bowing out in PK's.
This age group will be starting off their fall season at the most prestigous U12-U14 tournament in the country by attending the Eclipse Challenge Cup August 13-15. This tournament is by invitation only and the Minnesota Thunder Academy is the only Minnesota club who receives an invitation to this event. The tournament will feature the following teams at the U12 age group: Ohio Elite (OS), OP Eagles (OH), Carmel United (IN), Michigan Jaguars (MI), Michigan Hawks (MI), Vardar (MI), Albertson SC (NY), PDA (NJ), FC Stars of Mass (MA), Eclipse (IL).
MTA's U14's (97 Blue, current U13's) will also be returning to this event where they were semi finalists last year and finalists the year before.
MTA 99e Boys - Schwans USA Cup Weekend Champions
The boys from MTA 99east captured another championship during the 2010 Schwans weekend. To earn their champions cup, they defeated teams from Minnesota, Canada, Illinois, and Wisonsin posting a 6-0 record in their U12 division. Congrats to all players for another successful tourney!
The boys also made it to the U12 C1 District Championship game.
