MTA USSDA Named Most Improved Club & Sam Forsgren Named To U18 Starting XI

MTA has had a great year with multiple players being selected into a variety of Youth US National Team's and for that hard work, MTA has been named the USSDA Central Division Most Improved Club.  The award is chosen based on the club's style of play, players selected for National Team duty, facilities, and coaching staff.

Sam Forsgren from the U18 USSDA team was named to the Starting XI for the Central Division.  Sam scored 17 goals in only 20 games for the USSDA.

Additional Accolades Include Starting XI for Each Conference and Team- and Club-Focused Awards

CHICAGO (July 20, 2014) - The U.S. Soccer Development Academy has named its conference award winners for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. Additional accolades include a Starting XI for each conference at each age group, as well as team- and club-focused awards.

Jeremy Ebobisse (Bethesda-Olney) was named Player of the Year in the East Conference for the Under-15/16s (1997-98 birth years). Collin Fernandez (Chicago Fire) won the award in the Central and Sebastian Saucedo (Real Salt Lake AZ) in the West. For Coach of the Year, Matias Asorey (Kendall SC) was the winner in the East Conference. Lars Richters (Crew Soccer Academy Wolves) won in the Central and Teddy Chronopoulos (Pateadores) took the honors in the West.

For the Under-17/18s (1995-96 birth years), the Players of the Year were Brian White (Players Development Academy) in the East, Alan Winn (Solar Chelsea FC) in the Central and Adonis Amaya (LA Galaxy) in the West. Matt Pilkington (Bethesda-Olney) was the Coach of the Year in the East, with Tim Carter (Shattuck-St. Mary's Soccer Academy) and Derek Armstrong (Nomads SC) winning the award in the Central and West, respectively.

For the overall awards, the Philadelphia Union was named the Best Overall Club in the East Conference. FC Dallas earned the same distinction in the Central and the award went to the LA Galaxy in the West. To be considered for this award, a club must have a U-12 through Pro Development pathway.

In the Under-13/14 age group (1990-00 birth years), the Development Academy does not award individual players but does recognize Coaches of the Year, along with team and club awards. Marcelo Neveleff (Weston FC) took home Coach of the Year honors in the East Conference, with Dave Richardson (Sockers FC) and Shaun Tsakaris (De Anza Force) garnering the honors in the Central and West Conferences, respectively.
