FORWARDS
Sophie Babo, Orono, So.: A prolific scorer, Babo’s production even increased after a stellar freshman season. A year after becoming a 30-goal scorer, Babo became a 40-goal scorer. She also had 12 assists. The Division I recruit is the school’s all-time leading scorer.
Dana Buckhorn, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Sr.: The leading scorer on the No. 2-ranked team in the state in Class 1A. A very skilled player, Buckhorn has 21 goals and 19 assists entering the state tournament.
Simone Kolander, Lakeville North, Sr.: The best player on the state’s No. 1-ranked Class 2A team. Kolander’s scoring dropped off slightly from her junior year, but she still registered 20 goals and 16 assists through section play. The Metro Player of the Year in 2011 will play for the Gophers in the future.
Jenna Roering, Centennial, Sr.: The Cougars were heavily counting on the speedy Roering this season, and she didn’t let them down. She has 34 goals and 16 assists entering the state tournament. Roering, who has 104 goals in her prep career, is headed to Santa Clara.
MIDFIELDERS
Ellie Crowell, Minnetonka, Sr.: The four-year starter as well as all-conference member was instrumental in the Skippers compiling an overall record of 11-2-5. She had 10 goals and seven assists in her final season. Crowell is bound for Cornell.
Maddie Gaffney, Woodbury, Jr.: Gaffney had 14 goals, six of which were game-winners, and five assists this season. The very creative one-on-one player scored two of the Royals’ three goals in section play.
Lauren Miller, St. Louis Park, Sr.: The Orioles’ all-time leading goal producer led the team in scoring every year the past six seasons. She finished her career with 74 goals. Miller is headed to North Dakota State.
Kylie Schwarz, Wayzata, Sr.: Schwarz is an exceptional team player with great ball control. The most influential player in the Lake Conference scored at least two goals in seven games, five of which came either against ranked opponents or in section play.
DEFENDER
Ashley Pafko, Blaine, Sr.: Pafko, a starter since eighth grade, is one of the most versatile players in the state. She was previously an attacker and midfielder but moved back to defense this year. The future Gopher attacks from her defensive position, as her nine goals indicate.
GOALKEEPER
Tarah Hobbs, White Bear Lake, Sr.: A tough competitor who is very athletic. In 19 games, Hobbs allowed only nine goals while recording 12 shutouts. She has committed to the Gophers.
