Both teams tied yesterday so the winner of this game would put themselves in a great position to advance to the National Final.
The Thunder started off the game quickly and in the 4th minute Lydia Sutton hit a shot off the post. Amber Greely's follow up effort beat the goalie but a BRYC defender was able to clear the ball off of the line to prevent the opening goal. That chance proved to be the final chance of the first half as neither team was able to break down the other team defensively.
The second half proved to be all MTA. 13 minutes into the half a Brittany Beckman corner kick found Lydia Sutton inside the box and she put her shot low and past the keeper to take the lead.
That goal caused BRYC to push numbers forward and MTA proceeded to get three break aways, but BRYC's goalie did phenomenal and was able to stop all three.
With 3 minutes left BRYC put a dangerous ball into the box that bounced around until Lauren Brownrigg was able to clear the ball away with it just 3 yards off of the goal line.
The entire defense (Brittany Beckman, Lauren Brownrigg, Jennie Scislow, Bella Sutton, Lauren Kelly, and goalie AJ) all did a wonderful job in getting the shutout for the team.
The girls play Banshee 96/96 (NJ) tomorrow. A win or a draw puts them into the National Final on Tuesday.
