The Minnesota Thunder Academy is excited to announce the opening of it’s new academy in Bemidji, Minnesota. The new MTA Lakes Academy, will be led by Bemidji State University Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jim Stone. The Lakes Academy will be MTA’s sixth Academy joining the North, East, South, West, and Urban Academies.

Jim’s background also includes Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach at Augsburg College (1999-2000) and Head Girls Varsity Coach at Spring Lake Park High School (2001). Jim Holds the National Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Diploma and Level I Goalkeeper Diploma as well as the United States Soccer Federation National “C” and National “Y” (Youth) licenses.

MTA Lakes will serve soccer players in Northwestern Minnesota with Bemidji serving as the central training point. MTA Lakes will focus on teaching players the proper individual technical skills in a challenging yet positive environment that lays the foundation for their future success as a player.

The new academy will officially launch in the fall of 2010 offering teams at the U9-U12 age groups for both boys and girls.
